Verlag 1.1.1845 mit Eintritt von Bernhard Perthes umbenannt, Januar 1953 durch Rat der Stadt Gotha (DDR) entschädigungslos enteignet und in VEB umgewandelt, 1955 in VEB Hermann Haack Geographisch-Kartographische Anstalt Gotha umbenannt. Daraufhin gründeten April 1953 Joachim Justus Perthes und sein Sohn Wolf-Jürgen Perthes in Darmstadt Justus Perthes Geographische Verlagsanstalt Darmstadt als Rechtsnachfolger des enteigneten Gothaer Stammhauses
