Teacher, Historian. He was born in Windlach, Canton Zurich, Switzerland. He was employed as a teacher in Kilchberg, Canton Zurich, Switzerland from 1905 to 1942. During these years, he wrote several local history chronicles, including "Zur Kulturgeschichte des Zürichsees" (On the Cultural History of Lake Zurich), "Altzürcherische Familiensitze am See als Erinnerungsstätten" (Old Zurich Family Homesteads on the Lake as Memorial Sites), and "Zur Kulturgeschichte des Limmattales" (On the Cultural History of the Limmat Valley). On May 2, 1954, he was awarded honorary citizenship in Kilchberg in recognition of his special services to local history research, and in particular for writing "Geschichte der Gemeinde Kilchberg" (History of the Kilchberg
