Bemerkung: Es handelt sich um eine s/w-Kopie des Artikels „From the FILES of General Idea“ von John Bentley Mays erschien am 21. Juli 1984 in der kanadischen Tageszeitung „The Globe and Mail“. Mays setzt sich darin mit dem Werk von General Idea – wie dem FILE Megazine, dem „P for Poodle“ und „The 1984 Miss General Idea Pavillion“ – und ihren Ausstellungen auseinander. Das Exemplar lag einem Brief von Carmen Lamanna an die Herausgeber*in der kanadischen Tageszeitung „The Globe and Mail“ bei, in der sie Mays Aussagen über das fehlende Interesse von der Art Gallery of Ontario an General Idea als inkorrekt kritisiert (JCA1GENE082). Der Leser*innenbrief wurde in gekürzter Form in „The Globe and Mail“ am 22. August 1984 (JCA1GENE120) veröffentlicht. // This is a b/w copy of the article “From the FILES of General Idea” by John Bentley Mays published in the Canadian daily newspaper “The Globe and Mail” on 21 July 1984. In it, Mays discusses the work of General Idea – such as the FILE Megazine, the “P for Poodle” and “The 1984 Miss General Idea Pavillion” – and their exhibitions. The copy was enclosed with a letter from Carmen Lamanna to the editor of the Canadian daily newspaper “The Globe and Mail,” in which she criticizes May’s statements about the Art Gallery of Ontario’s lack of interest in General Idea as incorrect (JCA1GENE082). The letter to the editor was published in abridged form in The Globe and Mail on 22 August 1984 (JCA1GENE120).
