Inhaltsangabe:   Paul Henry Maty berichtet Herzog Ernst II. von Sachsen-Gotha und Altenburg über die geplante Südsee-Expedition von Joseph Banks und Daniel Solander mit John Zoffany. Gleichzeitig kündet er das Erscheinen mehrerer neuer Bücher an, darunter Hawkesworth, John: An Account of the Voyages Undertaken by the Order of His Present Majesty for Making Discoveries in the Southern Hemisphere and Successively Performed by Commodore Byron, Captain Wallis, Captain Carteret, and Captain Cook, in the Dolphin, the Swallow, and the Endeavor, Drawn Up from the Journals Which Were Kept by the Several Commanders, and from the Papers of Joseph Banks, London 1773, und Banks, John: Letter Written at the Request of Count Lauragais: Describing His Voyage Round the World with Capt. Cook in H.M.S. Endeavour, 1768-71, London 1772, an.  Daneben streift Maty die politisch-philosophische Diskussion zur englischen Indienpolitik und der Behandlung der indischen Bevölkerung durch die Kolonialbehörden.
